Our service location offers a variety of golf cart repairs and services for both electric and gas golf carts, including but not limited to electrical connections and repairs, customizations, installation of accessories (many of which can be purchased from Prime Cart Parts and then brought to our service center), engine maintenance and oil changes, and golf cart charger repair. Along with standard lead-acid battery systems, we also provide lithium battery service as well, which can range from replacing a lead-acid system with lithium, or repairing issues with already installed lithium batteries.

Lithium Battery Service

Conversion from lead-acid: If you’ve recently purchased a golf cart lithium battery and are unsure how to remove the lead-acid batteries and install the lithium, our team of technicians is available to swap out the batteries and connect all necessary cords and cables. Some lithium batteries are charged by plugging directly into an outlet or extension cord, while others will swap out your cart’s old charging port plug for a modern lithium compatible receptacle, or configure an OEM plug to match the new smart charger. We also provide the installation of the state of charge meter and (if needed) voltage reducer.

BMS troubleshooting and tuning: The battery management system (BMS) controls various internal systems of the battery, including monitoring cell balance, temperatures, and voltage limits. If a cart is shutting down prematurely, driving slower up hills, or not charging, it may be an issue with the BMS. Our technicians are trained to be able to connect and read the error codes given, and re-calibrate the cells, or update the internal firmware. The cart’s motor controller may also need an adjustment to safely and efficiently handle the sudden, sustained high amperage of lithium batteries.

Internal component maintenance: Depending on the brand of lithium battery, it may also require service on the charger, including repairs such as replacing blown internal fuses, swapping out failing capacitors, or repairing damaged DC cord plugs and frayed AC power cables.

Benefits of Lithium Batteries

Longer Lifespan: Lithium batteries can last for upwards of 10 years or more, while lead-acid batteries typically only last around 2 to 3 years when the cart is driven regularly.

Faster Charging Time: A lithium battery can recharge from a very low percentage to full in just about 5 hours, while lead-acid batteries can take up to 18 hours to fully recharge if they are very low.

Less Weight: Most lithium batteries typically weigh around 70 to 100 pounds, and only require one to power the cart. Installing a lithium battery will take off about 400 pounds of extra weight, and can possibly allow your cart to drive faster now that it’s not being weighed down.

No Maintenance: Unlike lead-acid batteries, which need to be refilled with distilled water every few months and have their terminals cleaned of corrosion, lithium batteries are sealed and do not require any maintenance.

Environmentally Friendly: Lithium batteries do not contain the same hazardous chemicals, such as lead and sulfuric acid, that lead-acid batteries do, and do not run the risk of giving off dangerous fumes when plugged in to charge.
